Culture Shock
The psychologist Mary Ann Santoro Bellini, Ph.D. defines cultural adjustment as a four stage process. From the honeymoon phase of enjoyment and wonder, to rejection of the culture when things become difficult, followed by regression, and finally acceptance, culture shock and travel is defined as a complex process. In my experience, I would have to agree. From the cockroach near one's toothbrush, to the celebration of age-old lantern celebrations, in this small collection I attempt to capture this complexity and record the stories that come with it.
